Breaking: Petit Planet Release Date Set for Dec 4

HoYoverse has finally put a date on its first cozy life sim: Petit Planet launches on December 4, 2026. The Genshin Impact studio announced it alongside a new release-date trailer, and the game is a free download on PC (Epic Games Store and a standalone client), iOS and Android on day one.

What is Petit Planet?

Petit Planet is HoYoverse's cozy galactic life sim, and the company's first game in the slow-life genre. You build a home on your own small planet, reshape its land, coastline and skies, and share it with fuzzy animal Neighbors. Day to day you farm odd crops, fish, catch bugs, beachcomb and cook by combining ingredients. When you want to roam, you sail across a region called the Starsea to gather materials and meet new characters.

The social hub is the Galactic Bazaar, where players from across the universe can trade, play, create or just hang out. That is the closest thing to a multiplayer space in HoYoverse's own description of the game.

What time does Petit Planet release in India?

HoYoverse has only confirmed the date, December 4, so there is no official launch time in IST yet. Check the official channels as launch gets closer, and we will update this once the time is stated. The first live event to watch is the Official Release Preview Program on November 1, scheduled for 20:00 JST (4:30 PM IST), where the developers and a special guest are expected to cover gameplay and upcoming events.

Is Petit Planet free? What about gacha?

Downloading is free on all three platforms. The monetization is the open question. Japanese outlet Automaton reports that the game includes gacha and multiplayer elements, but HoYoverse has not published a full breakdown of what is sold or how premium currency works. In its Gamescom hands-on, Polygon wrote that a gacha element seemed likely but did not appear in the hour of demo it played. Treat the spending model as unconfirmed until the launch build and the November 1 stream clarify it.

Can you play on PC and phone with one account?

This is not spelled out. HoYoverse's announcement confirms the three platforms but does not state whether progress carries across PC, iOS and Android through cross-save or cross-play. Some fan sites claim full cross-platform support, but those claims are not backed by an official statement we could find, so plan on it being unconfirmed. If you want to play mostly on your phone, the Android and iOS versions are the straightforward choice; the PC version is the natural pick for long decorating sessions.

What did early players and previewers say?

Polygon played about an hour of the game at Gamescom 2026 and called it a serious Animal Crossing rival in vibe, while questioning its long-term appeal. According to that preview, you are hired by a company called Loomi Co. to revive uninhabited planets in the Starsea. You pick a starting world, and the demo offered two: Hexia, a mild planet rich in plums, and Taffeh, a sunset-drenched savanna of mango trees. Your first fruit shapes early cooking, trading and gifting.

Animals in the game speak in fully voiced dialogue. After criticism over HoYoverse's AI plans, the company told Polygon that every voice performance in the demo came from real human voice actors and no AI-generated voices were used.

A final beta test ran from September 20 to October 19, according to Game*Spark, and pre-registration is open on every platform with launch rewards for those who sign up.

What are the system requirements and file size?

Neither has been announced. A free-to-play game with a customizable planet and a shared hub can be large, and install size often decides whether a game stays on a phone. Should you pre-register?

Just be careful about unofficial top-up sites already listing the game with wrong dates; buy only through official channels once the game is live.
