Path of Exile 3.30, the Covens of Umbra league, launches on Friday, November 13, Grinding Gear Games revealed at Exilecon 2026. It brings a witch-themed league, a big endgame overhaul, a loot rework and makes the Mirage mechanic core, according to PCGamesN's Exilecon coverage.

What is the Covens of Umbra league?

The story centres on a centuries-old conflict between the Witches of Umbra. You meet the Coven Queen's minions from the first areas. Completing their rites lets you steal power and collect Fates, modifiers that make major boss fights harder but more rewarding. Later you can hold four or five Fates in an area and combine up to three on a single fight, with special combo effects and stronger stacking of duplicates.

What is the Wickerman?

You bind your character's soul to the Wickerman. Fate-enhanced enemies can drop trophies such as heads, bodies, arms and legs, and you impale up to four at once for buffs across three rarity tiers. Grim Fates are boss-specific variants stored on the Wickerman for pinnacle fights, and beating them drops some of the league's strongest trophies. The finale is the Coven Queen herself.

Because the league needs you to meet big area bosses, GGG has rearranged some campaign zone layouts and added over two dozen new bosses in the campaign.

What changes in the endgame?

GGG describes a comprehensive shakeup of nearly every core league mechanic:

Atlas: a refreshed passive tree with coloured regions that decide which mechanics appear, with stacking danger and payouts.
Threads of Creation: replace Scarabs. Each of ten mechanics (Abyss, Blight, Legion, Breach, Incursion, Betrayal, Bestiary, Expedition, Ultimatum, Ritual) has a Thread you drop in the map device, up to eight, and later three mechanics at once. The Atlas remembers your last loadout.
Old Scarab effects: spread into the Atlas tree, so average players should get similar benefits as a baseline.
Mechanic updates: Ultimatum gets a Double Down gamble, Ritual gets the Bodach option, Blight gets Mycotic lanes, and Expedition gets bigger encounters and Runic Obelisks.
Crossovers: mechanics interact, for example a Tormented Spirit burying an Expedition, or Blight infecting Strongboxes.

Is Mirage now core?

Yes. Mirage, introduced in the 3.28 league, now covers the entirety of maps it affects, which GGG says more than doubles the explorable area. Viridian Wildwood and Sentinels can also spawn at any map tier.

What is the loot rework?

Game Director Jonathan Rogers said the core drop pool had gone stale. Magic and rare ground loot can now appear at specific tiers, and tier-five magic items can drop as fractured bases. Magic find and rarity bonuses are reworked so the best currency comes from unique and boss monsters.

How does this fit with Path of Exile 2?
