Gears of War E-Day Free RAAM: How to Claim, Season 2 Date
Gears of War turned 20 today, and The Coalition is marking it with a gift: every Gears of War: E-Day player can claim General RAAM as a free multiplayer character just by logging in. The announcement, posted on Xbox Wire on November 6, also confirms that E-Day's Season 2, called Legacy, starts on December 1.
- Free RAAM: log in on Saturday, November 7 (the exact anniversary) to claim him instantly.
- Anniversary event: a two-week event is already live with limited-time modes and rewards.
- New modes: Guardian in Versus and For the Queen in Horde Siege.
- Season 2: Legacy: December 1, bringing back maps, modes and character skins from across the series.
- Platforms: E-Day is on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
How do you get RAAM for free in Gears of War: E-Day?
There is no challenge, battle pass tier or purchase. The Coalition's wording is simply to log in and he is yours. The studio calls it a birthday present for every E-Day player. One caution: the Xbox Wire post does not say how long the offer lasts, so claim him on the anniversary itself rather than waiting. RAAM is a playable multiplayer character in Versus, and reports note his E-Day model is not a straight copy of earlier games.
What is in the 20 Years of Gears event?
The two-week event kicked off earlier this week. Per Xbox Wire, it adds two limited-time playlists:
- Guardian (Versus): a mode where only one leader makes it out alive.
- For the Queen (Horde Siege): the Supply Cache is disabled, so your squad has to live off its starting loadouts.
New rewards are tied to the event, but The Coalition has not detailed every item in the post.
What is coming in Season 2: Legacy?
Legacy starts on December 1. The studio says it will honour two decades of Gears moments through maps, modes and multiplayer skins, with a Dom skin previewed. A full list of returning maps and modes has not been published yet, so treat any specific map you are hoping for as unconfirmed.
Is Gears of War: E-Day worth playing now?
If you already own it, the answer is easy: log in today. If you are deciding, our pieces on the Game Pass debate and player numbers and the PC requirements and best settings cover whether your rig is ready. Check our deals page for current discounts and the launch calendar for what else is coming.
Will RAAM be added to the original game too?
No. The offer concerns Gears of War: E-Day only; the announcement does not involve a new version of the 2006 original.
