The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 with NVIDIA's RTX Spark is a great laptop that is hard to carry. Windows Central's Daniel Rubino reviewed it on November 5, 2026 after three weeks of use, praising the display, keyboard and performance but flagging its 4.9-pound weight against the 3.9-pound ASUS ProArt P16.

Quick summary

What are the HP OmniBook Ultra 16's specs?

Besides the tested setup, HP sells configurations up to 128GB of unified memory, plus a 64GB/2TB model with LPDDR5X-9400 and a PCIe Gen5 SSD. The display is rated for up to 120Hz VRR, 500 nits SDR, 1,100 nits HDR and 100% DCI-P3. Ports: HDMI 2.1, two USB-C, two USB-A, microSD and a headphone jack. The 140W GaN charger is small, with a detachable USB-C cable.

How fast is it? Benchmarks vs ASUS and Surface

The takeaway from the reviewer: results are so close that benchmark wins should not decide your purchase. Gaming performance was similar to ASUS and described as very good with the 120Hz OLED, though RTX Spark is not a dedicated gaming platform. Is the OmniBook Ultra 16 too heavy?

That is the whole debate. At 4.9 pounds it is a full pound heavier than the ProArt P16, and even the Surface Laptop Ultra is about 4.5 pounds. The extra bulk buys roomy cooling (two 79-blade fans, three heat pipes, sustained up to 70W) but the hottest point only reached about 113°F (45°C), slightly warmer than ASUS, with fans mostly under 50dB.

How good are the display, keyboard and touchpad?

The reviewer calls the 3K OLED touchscreen possibly his favourite part: colours look clean and balanced rather than oversaturated, and it is glossy but tolerable. The second-generation latticeless keyboard has wider key spacing and deeper dishes than HP's first attempt, and the oversized haptic touchpad is consistent across its surface. Audio is a quad-speaker setup with DTS:X Ultra and the 5MP webcam is described as okay.

What are the pros and cons?

Should you buy it or the ASUS ProArt P16?

Buy the HP if you want a premium RTX Spark laptop without 64GB or 128GB of memory, care about display and build, and find it noticeably cheaper than ASUS. Pick ASUS if portability matters. Lenovo's Pro 9n and Yoga 9n are alternatives, the former lighter and the latter a convertible. See our ASUS ProArt P16 India price and specs for the rival.
