Unconfirmed report: NVIDIA has reportedly missed its own schedule for giving board partners the design kits for the GeForce RTX 5080 24GB. The claim comes from BenchLife, via VideoCardz on November 2, and it casts doubt on the rumored January 2027 launch. NVIDIA has not announced the card.

BenchLife: partners expected documentation in October but had not received it by month end
Earlier rumor: 24GB model replaces the 16GB card in Q1 2027
Chinese channel reports had suggested December 2026 or January 2027
All of this is unconfirmed

What exactly did BenchLife report?

NVIDIA was supposed to distribute the necessary design documents in October. Manufacturers still lacked them at month end. Without them, partners cannot finish designs, testing and validation before mass production. BenchLife therefore thinks a January release is unlikely, though nearly three months of that window remain.

Why does the delay matter?

VideoCardz quotes a board partner who said a new card takes at least six weeks from receiving design information to launch, and that was in a stronger gaming market. Now AI demand competes for production capacity and memory shortages complicate buying, so even two months may be optimistic. An announcement at CES 2027 is still possible, but shelves could fill later.

What does this mean for RTX 5080 prices?

TechSpot's Q4 pricing update reported the cheapest RTX 5080 at $2,200 in the US and about ₹2,10,000 in India in October, against a $999 MSRP, and said retail sources expect further rises. It also noted rumors that the 16GB card would be discontinued, and that clearing channel stock could explain tight supply. That is speculation, not confirmed. Should you wait or buy now?

If you need a GPU today, waiting for an unannounced, undated card is risky given the rising prices. Compare options in RTX 5080 vs RX 9070 XT, and watch our launch calendar for updates.
