Claude Duet: Waitlist, India Access, Price and Features

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on 21 October 2026. It is a proactive agent that messages you first, runs on its own cloud computer and keeps working after you close the app. The catch for Indian readers: it is US-only for now and invitation-based.
- Access: US Claude accounts on an eligible paid plan, plus an invitation from the waitlist.
- Plans: Anthropic lists Pro, Max and Ultra (Engadget described Pro and Max only).
- Price: included in those plans during the preview, sharing normal usage limits.
- India: no India launch date has been announced.
What is Claude Duet?
Duet is a standalone app on iOS and Android, also reachable on claude.ai. Instead of waiting for a prompt, it sends a morning brief across connected apps such as email and calendar, checks them every few hours and messages you only when something needs a decision. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and uses its own virtual machine with a browser, so your phone or laptop need not stay on.
Can you use Claude Duet in India?
Not yet. Anthropic's help article requires a US Claude account, an eligible paid plan and a waitlist invitation. One Korean tester reported that the sign-up form still submits from outside the US, but that only reserves a place in line and does not grant access. Anthropic has given no date for other countries, and Team and Enterprise plans are also "later" with no date.
How do you join the waitlist?
- Open the Claude Duet product page and choose Join the waitlist.
- Enter your name, company and the email on your Claude account.
- Pick your plan and phone type (iPhone or Android) and describe the work you want to hand off.
- Wait for an emailed invitation. Anthropic does not promise a date.
How much does Claude Duet cost?
No extra fee during the preview. Duet is included with Pro ($20 a month), Max ($100) and Ultra ($200) in US pricing, according to third-party guides citing Anthropic. It draws on the same usage limits as Claude chats, and background work like the morning brief counts too, so heavy users may hit limits sooner.
What can and can't it do?
| Can do | Limits in the preview |
|---|---|
| Morning brief from email and calendar | Runs only on Claude Opus 5.5; no model choice |
| Use apps connected in Claude | No Microsoft 365 support; Slack only limited |
| Work in its own cloud browser | You cannot watch or take over the browser |
| Return finished files and drafts | Checks accounts every few hours, not live |
Is it safe to connect work accounts?
Anthropic says Duet asks for approval before it sends messages, makes payments, signs documents or deletes anything, and that some actions, such as trading securities or moving money between accounts, are barred even with approval. These are vendor statements; The Hack Academy notes no independent security testing was available and that disconnecting an app stops future access but does not erase what Duet already remembers. Prompt injection from emails or web pages remains a risk Anthropic itself acknowledges.
Verdict
Interesting, but not something readers in India can use today. If you are tracking the Claude lineup, read our Anthropic IPO explainer and the Gemini 4 Carbon vs Claude Opus 5.5 comparison.
