GeForce NOW only works as well as your connection, and NVIDIA publishes exact numbers. For a 1080p/60 fps stream on a PC, Mac or browser you need at least 25 Mbps, and latency to the data centre must stay under 80 ms. India's GeForce NOW servers run from Mumbai, so your plan, router and city all matter.

Quick summary

How many Mbps does GeForce NOW need?

NVIDIA's system requirements page lists the same bandwidth ladder across the Windows, macOS and Linux apps. The figures below are minimums for each stream quality, not guarantees of smoothness.

Stream qualityMinimum speed
1280x720, up to 60 fps15 Mbps
1920x1080, 60 fps25 Mbps
2560x1440 or ultrawide QHD, 120 fps35 Mbps
3840x2160, 120 fps45 Mbps
1080p/1440p at 240 or 360 fps55 Mbps
5K, 120 fps65 Mbps

NVIDIA says a Premium membership is required for 4K, ultrawide, RTX, HDR and the 90/120/240/360 fps modes on the native apps.

What about latency and ping?

Speed is only half of it. NVIDIA requires under 80 ms of network latency to its data centre. Because the Indian service is served from Mumbai, users in the west and south are likely to see the shortest paths, while those far away or on congested links should test before paying. NVIDIA links a network test guide from its requirements page.

Will Jio, Airtel or ACT work?

NVIDIA does not publish a list of approved Indian ISPs, so we can't say any provider is "certified". What matters is the measured result on your line: download speed at the time you play, latency, and packet loss. Any home fibre or 5G plan that holds the speeds above and stays under 80 ms meets the stated requirement. Test during evening peak hours, since that is when shared connections slow down.

Should you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

NVIDIA recommends a wired Ethernet connection, or a router on 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The 2.4 GHz band is crowded and usually adds jitter. If you must use Wi-Fi, sit close to the router and pause large downloads on other devices.

Do other devices need less?

Yes, in some cases. iPhone and iPad streaming tops out at the 25 Mbps tier. Android TV and Fire TV list 15 and 25 Mbps. Smart TVs list 40 Mbps for 4K at 60 fps and 45 Mbps for 4K at 120 fps, and Ultimate is required for 4K on TV. Handhelds such as the Steam Deck and ROG Ally list 35 Mbps for 1440p at 90 and 120 fps.

Is it worth it on a typical Indian plan?

A 50 Mbps plan with good latency comfortably covers 1080p/60, which is what the Performance tier targets. If you want to compare costs, see our GeForce NOW India four-month plan breakdown and the cost comparison with a gaming PC. Monthly plans are Rs 999 (Performance) and Rs 1,999 (Ultimate); the four-month plans are Rs 3,499 and Rs 6,999 per Gadgets 360. A day pass lets you test your line first. Verdict

Aim for at least 25 Mbps and under 80 ms for 1080p, add headroom for other users in your home, and use Ethernet. Run a test at night before committing to a four-month plan.
