Soulframe, the fantasy action RPG from Warframe studio Digital Extremes, opens its free "Open Preludes" alpha to every PC player on Friday, November 6, 2026. No invite or Founder pack is needed any more. This guide covers how to get in, what the alpha is, and what is coming next.

Quick summary

Free access for all PC players from November 6; Digital Extremes has not given an opening time.
Download the launcher from soulframe.com; the game is not on Steam yet (only a wishlist page).
It is still an alpha, with no final release date and no console dates.
Next update: Preludes 17, Verse of the Veilands, due later in November.

How do you play Soulframe for free?

Create an account on the official site, soulframe.com. You can do this now.
On November 6, download the launcher from the site and install on a Windows PC.
Founder packs are still on sale and unlock Pacts (classes) and gear instantly, but they are no longer required.

Because no opening hour was announced, expect the launcher to appear at some point on the day; check the official Soulframe channels.

Is Open Preludes a full launch?

No. It is a test build that Digital Extremes keeps updating through free patches shaped by player feedback. There is no final release date and no announced dates for console versions, and the studio has not said what happens to testers' progress at full launch.

What is Verse of the Veilands?

Preludes 17: Verse of the Veilands is the next big update, due later in November with no exact date. According to reports of a presentation covered by PC Gamer, you purify regions of the isle of Midrath one at a time as Ode'n corruption spreads, stopping siphons that drain the world of its color; enemies and resources change as areas are restored, and activities such as fishing open up. The wolf pup you raise can grow into a rideable Omen Wolf after you finish its training, purify two Veilands regions and brew a Bairnday Biscuit.

Is Soulframe worth trying?

If you like Warframe's studio or want a free action RPG, it costs only a download, but it is an alpha, so expect rough edges and wipes are not ruled out. India-based players can sign up the same way; the game is PC only and needs a Windows machine.
