WoW Forever System Requirements, Download Size and Pre-Load

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, and the first question for most players is whether their PC can handle it. The short answer: the CPU and GPU bars are low, but you need a 128 GB SSD with free space, and a hard drive is not supported. The download size depends on what you already have installed.
- Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, 4-core 3.0 GHz CPU, 8 GB RAM, 4 GB DirectX 12 GPU (GTX 10 series / RDNA 1 / Intel Lunar Lake graphics).
- Recommended: Windows 11, 8 performance cores at 5.2 GHz boost, 16 GB RAM, 8 GB GPU (RTX 40 series / RDNA 3 / Arc B-Series).
- Storage: 128 GB SSD space on both tiers.
- Download: reportedly about 12 to 16 GB if Retail WoW is installed, roughly 60 to 69 GB on a clean install (player reports, not an official figure).
What are the WoW Forever PC system requirements?
These figures come from the Battle.net store listing, as reproduced by Wowhead. Blizzard separately lists Mac support.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit (May 2019 Update or newer) | Windows 11 |
| CPU | 4 cores, 3.0 GHz (Intel Haswell / AMD Zen) | 8 performance cores, 5.2 GHz boost (Core Ultra Series 2 / Ryzen Zen 5) |
| GPU | 4 GB DX12: GTX 10 series / RDNA 1 / Intel Xe2 Lunar Lake | 8 GB DX12: RTX 40 series / RDNA 3 / Arc B-Series |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 128 GB SSD | 128 GB SSD |
| Internet | Broadband | Broadband |
Which graphics cards are no longer supported?
Blizzard's separate GPU post sets an architecture floor: AMD Graphics Core Next 1 (2012), NVIDIA Maxwell (2014) or Intel Skylake (2015) or newer. Older cards such as the Radeon HD 6950 and GeForce GTX 760, 770 and 780 are named as unsupported. Note that this floor is a cutoff, not a performance promise, so some supported cards sit below the general minimum.
How big is the WoW Forever download?
Blizzard has not published a single launch download figure that we could verify. Forum reports from the pre-install window describe about 12 GB if Retail WoW is installed, because game data is shared, and around 60 to 69 GB for a clean install. One beta tester reported 66.95 GB in September on an oversized build. Treat all of these as player reports. The 128 GB requirement covers the whole game and future patches.
Is there a pre-load?
Players can pre-install through Battle.net if Retail is present, but the game itself only becomes playable at launch. Launch is November 4 at 3 PM PST, which is 4:30 AM IST on November 5. Standard maintenance downtime is also reported for November 4. Our launch time and price guide has the full India timing.
Will it run on a budget or older laptop?
Likely yes if you have a GTX 1050 Ti-class card or newer, 8 GB RAM and an SSD. The classic visual presets and SD character models are meant to be lighter, per Blizzard's starter guide, though we could not find official FPS targets. If you are still choosing your character, read which class and race to pick. For other launches, check the launch calendar.

Verdict: should you worry about specs?
Most gaming PCs from the last decade will meet the minimum. The real gate is the SSD space and the GPU architecture floor, so check those first and keep drivers updated.
