PS6 Release Date and Price: Sony Has Not Decided Yet

Sony still has not announced the PS6, and its CEO says the company has not even decided when it will launch or what it will cost. What exists is a pile of leaks, analyst guesses and one clear official line: memory prices will decide the timing. Here is where things stand in November 2026, with rumours labelled as rumours.

Official: no PS6 name, date, price or specs from Sony.

When is the PS6 release date?

There is no official date. Totoki said on Sony's earnings call that memory prices are expected to stay very high through Sony's fiscal year 2027, which runs April 2027 to March 2028, and that Sony would consider changing its business model. Past gaps (PS4 in 2013, PS5 in 2020) point to late 2027, but a Bloomberg report said Sony was weighing 2028 or even 2029. Leaker Moore's Law Is Dead has claimed a fall 2027 launch. None of these is confirmed.

Will the PS6 be revealed in March 2027?

Insider Millie A posted on X that "the current roadmap targets an announcement of PlayStation 6 in early March 2027". That is an unverified claim, and an announcement would not mean the console ships that year. Treat it as a rumour until Sony says something.

How much will the PS6 cost?

Sony has set no price. Leaker KeplerL2 claimed RAM and storage alone cost Sony more than $680 per console, which led to talk of a roughly $1,000 retail price. Reports on the web range up to $1,200, but these are speculation. Sony said in a June investor Q&A that it does not intend to sell hardware at significant losses. For context, the PS5 Pro already costs $899.99 in the US. In India, Sony has given no PS6 pricing at all, so any rupee figure you see is a guess.

Everything here is unconfirmed and comes mostly from Moore's Law Is Dead and KeplerL2.

KeplerL2 also noted that a 10x faster ray tracing pipeline would translate to roughly 3x higher frame rates in a lightly ray-traced game, so do not expect a tenfold jump in practice.

Is there a PS6 handheld?

Leaks describe a handheld codenamed "Canis" with 16 RDNA 5 compute units and LPDDR5X memory. KeplerL2 said a $600 handheld is "definitely not possible right now". Sony has confirmed nothing.
