When does Thief: The Dark Project Remastered release?

December 3, 2026, on every platform at once, according to Gematsu's report of the Atari announcement. For readers in India, that means a Thursday launch, but the time of day hasn't been given, so check the store page closer to the date. Our launch calendar will carry it once it's confirmed.

What platforms is it coming to?

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. Reports say the Xbox version supports Play Anywhere and Switch owners get a free Switch 2 upgrade; check the store listing for the final details.

How much does it cost, and what are the editions?

Prices are US figures from the announcement; no India price has been published. Physical editions are listed for PS5 and Switch 2 only, with the Switch 2 discs playable on the original Switch.

What is The Tarnished Mirror?

It's a self-contained four-mission campaign made by the team behind the fan expansion Thief: The Black Parade. In the story, Garrett is back to petty jobs until he steals a Precursor hand-mirror and gets dragged into a conspiracy. It's included in the base price at launch.

What else is in the remaster?

• The original 12 missions plus the extra content from the 1999 Thief Gold re-release.
• Nightdive's KEX Engine, with support for player-made mods, including The Black Parade.
• Modern additions reported by Warp Pipes: a weapon wheel, mission selector and controller support.

Is it worth pre-ordering?

At $29.99 with 12 missions, the Gold content and four new ones, it's priced like a modest indie release. If you've never played the stealth classic, it's a cheap way in. If you want to wait for performance impressions, nothing is lost by waiting for reviews before December 3. Looking for cheaper games meanwhile?
