WoW: Forever Patch Notes: Every Class Gets More Damage at Launch

Days before World of Warcraft: Forever launches, Blizzard has published a last round of beta-driven changes, and the headline is simple: every class will deal more damage. Enemy health at high levels goes up to compensate. Here is what the patch notes say and what they mean for your first week.
- Biggest change: damage raised across all classes, with high-level creature health increased to match.
- Also new: faster respawns in low-level zones and a much more complete gamepad mode.
- Balance freeze: no more tuning until raids open on December 9.
- Launch: November 4 or 5 depending on time zone.
Why is Blizzard raising damage for every class?
Blizzard says that keeping each class to the original game's power budgets meant every new element it added had to come at the expense of something else. In the developers' words, those reductions left some iconic abilities feeling lackluster and closed the door to other design options. Raising damage while lifting the health of high-level creatures creates what Blizzard calls headroom, which lets the team tune classes to what it hopes feels better overall. The change was first reported by Polygon from Blizzard's forum notes.
What else changed in the final beta notes?
The notes include a wide pass of class and spec tuning, aimed at making Forever feel different from the changes of The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. Blizzard's stated goal is not perfect numerical equality but for every class to feel valuable to groups, with memorable moments from mastering it.
- Respawns: creatures in lower-level zones respawn faster to cope with the large player volumes Blizzard expects at launch.
- Gamepad: official controller support has "entered a complete functional state", so all major gameplay and core UI can be played with a controller.

When will balance change again?
Blizzard says it will leave balance alone until Forever's raids open on December 9. It then plans a large tuning pass using live data, including from players levelling past 30, the cap in the beta. So the numbers you see on day one should hold for about five weeks. Our dungeons and raids guide covers what opens then.
What should new players do with this?
Higher damage with tougher mobs should not change how quickly you level much, but it may make previously weak specs feel more playable, so re-check class guides written during the beta. If you are still choosing, read our breakdown of classes, races and combinations and the launch time in India. Expect crowded starting zones on day one, which is the reason for the respawn change.
